Full Moon

When I first saw this stone in a fish pond at EBell Confinement Centre, I instantly felt in love with it.
It was very dirty, covered with green mold. But I could identify its uniqueness from the water surface.
You see, this is the 2nd time in my life I came across such a perfect rounded stone.
The last one I found one was like 8 years ago.
I asked the owner, Magdeline if I could have it. She said, sure!

It is very rare to find almost perfect rounded stone shaped by the nature.
I'm lucky to find this piece.

Guess I have to turn this into a masterpiece.
Think I will name it "Full Moon"

Kechara Collection

Back in Sept, 2009, I came across Kechara in the Star article "Trendy Buddhism".
I was interested on this Buddhist organisation founded in 2000 by His Eminence Tsem Tulku Rinpoche of Gaden Shartse Monastery to avail the ancient wisdom of Buddha's teachings to practitioners in Malaysia and the surrounding regions.

You can visit their site here:
Kechara House

I visited Kechara centres at Petaling Jaya and Penang.

There the beautiful Lama Tsongkhapa's statue caught my attention.
The hand gesture portray the classic Dharmaachakra Mudra, which represent the gesture of teaching usually interpreted as turning the Wheel of Law. The hands are held level with the heart, the thumbs and index fingers form circles.

Here are my first 2 pieces work on the Kechara Collection.
So just imaging "touching" Lama Tsongkhapa's hand on the stone?

Hope you like them.

Tell me what you think?

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Tell me what you think about the idea, layout and my BuddhaHand works?
Comment and suggestion are most welcome.

Hey....today I turn 50!
I thought what a way to start a new life after 50, is to have a new baby bald head.

Anyway, please stay focus on the blog and give your opinion on the blog and NOT on the bald headed guy!

Thanks.
Kam Wong

Note: Oops...the big "fat" face is because when I smile, I stretch my cheek too... wide. The big head is obviously due to work pressure!)

A Blessed BuddhaHand - How is done.

Should the BuddhaHand be blessed?

If you are going to place it on the altar, I strongly you get it blesses.
You can easily get it blesses or "Tiam Gan" by the high monk/sifu of your favourite temple.

Here is a piece at my old house in Kangar, Perlis.

My brother took it to Cher Yang Khor Moral Uplifting Society and has it blessed. You notice the "RED" brush marking on the stone? I applied a coating of clear lacquer spray to protect the brush marking. The idea is later you can clean it with clean flower water.

With a blessed BuddhaHand stone, now you can "feel it and be touched by it".
Isn't it how you want to engage the Kuan Yin in praying?
YES! You touch its hand.

Make sure your hands are clean before you touch it!

Brian's Kwan Yin Collection - Penang

I am now working on a new collection - Brian's Kwan Yin.

Last November 2009, I joined the Penang Heritage Trust on a site visit in inner George Town city. We visited Brian's house who has restored a dilapidated house and filled it up with his antique Chinese/Strait Chinese collection.

His Kwan Yin at the door front caught my attention.
This is the most beautiful Kwan Yin brass statue I have ever come across.

Wish I could afford to own a similar statue but then let "fell and touch" its hand with my new collection.

I have spotted a nice angle to bring up its hand on the stone.
Here are the photos!

Gambler from China wins RM3.6mil in a day

SINGAPORE’s first casino, Resorts World at Sentosa has attracted numerous millionaires from China and one of them is said to have won more than S$1.5mil (RM3.6mil) in a day.

Nanyang Siang Pau reported that the winner was a middle-aged man who played the baccarat on Saturday evening. He was accompanied by a young woman.

It was reported that the man would occasionally scold the croupier if he lost.

The daily also reported that the man carried a lucky charm in the form of a golden Buddha palm, which he placed on the table.

The man was reported to be among the VIPs who deposited S$100,000 (RM240,000).

BuddhaHand - CopyCat or CopyDog?

Last November 2009, on a trip to 1 Utama, I noticed something very familiar on display at an outlet own by the world's famous pewter maker. This collection came out of the moon.
Normally, they would advertise their new collection or to coincide with a celebration. E.g. The Chinese New Year.
However, this particular collection pieces were just up on a prominent display at the door front. Since, it was prominently displayed at the main entrance, it was new but then on the wrong occasion.

The last Wesak Day was in May 2009. The next one is on 28, May 2010.
So where is the connection?

On further inquiry, this collection was released back in Oct, 2009.

The story of my BuddhaHand was published by Kwong Hwa on 3rd July 2009.

So I guess somehow my interesting story was made known to this maker in KL from their agent in Penang.

Wow....la.....wow...la.....

They called them the "Dharma Collection".
Lucky NOT the "Mudra Collection".

They have made a wonderful duplication pieces here with the pewter.
I think the unique of a masterpiece is lost when everybody can have that similar piece.

My BuddhaHand is one of its kind in the world - NO 2 PIECES ARE ALIKE.

Smalltime artist like me need your support from the big player like the one above.

Thank you.
