I have been asked many questions on the BuddhaHand.
Here I complied all the questions and answers for your reference.
If you have any question, please post it here. I will reply it and post it here.
Thank you.
Q - Where did you get the stone from?
A - I get this river stone from fish or landscape-garden shop.
I think they are imported from the Philippines or China.
Q - Can I supply my own stone?
A - Yes. I prefer palm size and smooth surface stone. Also prefer unique shaped stone.
Q - Why the stone is so shining?
A - The stone is properly clean up. Then a clear coating paint is applied on it.
Q - How do you made the BuddhaHand stone?
A - The BuddhaHand is made from a "cement" like material that fused on the stone. This give it the hard feeling as hard as the stone itself. The smooth surface is due to an application of special material. At the moment the know-how in making the BuddhaHand is a well kept secret by me. Sorry!
Q - Can I get the stone bless like the statue?
A - Yes. Talk to your guru, sifu, rinpoche, lama and monk that you want to put the stone on the altar to touch it after praying to divine statue. After that, you have to treat the stone like the statue. Clean it with flower water and etc.
Q - How do I look after the stone?
A - Clean the stone with soft cloth with a mild detergent water. Then quickly dry it with dry soft cloth. Don't not use any hard material to scrub it.
Q - Can I put the stone in water?
A - If you specially need to permanently display the stone in water, please let me know. I have to apply more layers of the clear coating paint on the stone for you.
Q - Where can I see and buy your stone?
A - I don't have a shop at the moment. I suggest you visit and buy it from this blog.
Q - Why the stone is so expensive?
A - It is expensive because it is one of its kind in the world and very difficult to made. Each stone can take 2 - 4 weeks to make. It depends on the design.
Q - What happen if I accidentally drop the stone on hard surface?
A - If you are lucky the stone may remind intact. If not, the BuddhaHand can get dented or chip off. It may be repaired. Please contact me.
Q - Did you get the BuddhaHand made in China?
A - Nope! I personally made each BuddhaHand in my studio in Penang. No BuddhaHand exists in where else in the world except from me!
Q - Is the BuddhaHand for sale?
A - YES! Those listed in the LOT posting.
Q - Does the BuddhaHand has any special power?
A - Not that I know of. But I have owners who told me its makes them feel calm, at peace and relax.
Q - Do you do shipment to overseas?
A - Yes. Your BuddhaHand shall be properly packed and shipped. There will be an extra P&H.

I now enjoy looking at divine statues in the temple.
Before that I am of scare looking at these huge statues.
You will notice the hands are the most intricate part of the statue. Why?
Because it carries the whole meaning of the statue - The Mudra
I got my inspiration from this observation.
Kek Lok Si Temple, Penang.
Mudras from Around the World.

BuddhaHand - "The Mudra"
Here are some questions to ponder before you read on.
- How do you differentiate the statues of the Buddha?
- Does the eye or face tell you its meaning?
- Have you ever pay an attention to the hand gestures?
- Do you know the statue is made to certain aspects of the Buddhist teaching?
The TEN Most Important Mudras.
Statues of the Buddha were produced from the fifth century onward. The sacred of the representation is reflected in the artistic goal of creating an aura of equanimity, perfection, and holiness. The large number of rules governing the execution of a portrayal or a statue requires an erudite understanding of Buddhist symbolism. Any Buddha figure made by a skilled artist exhibits a multitude of characteristics that communicate subtle meanings and intentions to the viewer.
The most important of the characteristics are perhaps the MUDRAS, or hand gestures, of the Buddha.
These well-defined gestured have a fixed meaning throughout all styles and periods of Buddha images.
The most important mudras are:
1. Dhyani Mudra.................. (gesture of meditation)
2. Vitarka Mudra................. (teaching gesture)
3. Dharmachakra Mudra.............(gesture of turning the wheel of the teaching)
4. Bhumisparsha Mudra.............(gesture of touching the earth)
5. Abhaya Mudra.................. (gesture of fearlessness and granting protection)
6. Varada Mudra.................. (gesture of granting wishes)
7. Uttarabodhi Mudra............. (gesture of supreme enlightenment)
8. Mudra of Supreme Wisdom
9. Anjali Mudra.................. (gesture of greeting and veneration)
10.Vajrapradama Mudra............ (gesture of unshakable confidence)
For the full write up of the Mudras with illustration, drop me an email.
I shall send you the pdf file.

INTRODUCTION: The story behind the BuddhaHand.
Early this year during the Chap Goh Meh (15th day of Chinese New Year), I visited the fame Kek Lok Si Temple Penang with my daughter. My daughter asked me about the statues. I said that was Buddha…that was Kuan Yin….that was Buddha….That was how I used to perceive these Divine statues.

As I was photographing and observing the statues, their beautiful hand gestures caught my attention. I realized they were of different postures and must have meaning attached to it. So I did a research on the internet and fount out its meaning for the 1st time in my life. The MUDRA.
I got inspired with this new discovery and came out a with a project on this theme: "Feel it and be Touched by it". I decided to take the challenge to cast the Buddha hand on river stone.

The idea is to let worshippers touch the “Hand” on the stone and get “connected” or “engaging” with the Buddha. You see at the temple, you are not allowed to touch those beautiful hands on the statues.
After many frustration attempts I finally completed my 1st batch of collection 2 days before Wesak Day 2009. Unfortunately, it was too late to display them at any temple in Penang.
Later, I wrote to Kwong Wah Press about my collection. They were impressed and agreed to do a story. The story came out on July 3. Little did I know it was appeared full front page in the feature story section. I was indeed honoured for that acknowledgment.
Later, many readers asked to see my collection at my home in Penang. Some even asked if the stone is for sale. Unfortunately, they are not for sale at that moment as I intend to exhibit them for these reasons:
To educate the public on the meaning of the Mudra.
To educate the public to appreciate the divine statue and its meaning.
To let the public feel the “hand” and be touched by it.
Now and then I will to take them for an exhibition. So please check on the post on “Exhibition Near You” to see if there is any exhibition coming out.
HOWEVER, In order to support my work and goals, I have made these extra BuddhaHand for sales.
This blog is created for this purpose.
Thanks for your support and visiting this blog.
May all living things be well and happy.
Yours in Metta.
